A List of Summer Essentials

Here in the Philippines summer is looked forward to like no other season. For one, it’s vacation time for students. For almost two months they can engage in fun-filled activities and hit the beach as well. Those who are already working also manage to squeeze in a holiday or two so they can dip into swimming pools to ward off the heat. Tropical fruits are also abundant in the summer: watermelons, mangoes, melons, coconuts and pineapples—these water-based fruits help us keep hydrated so we won’t collapse due to extremely high temperature. As for fashionistas like me, what we’re most excited about is our summer wardrobe.
I’ve come up with a list of summer essentials, which you might consider preparing for yourselves as well. Here they are:

1. Funky accessories – You can never go wrong with hoop and dangling earrings in the summer. Go for light colors and twinkling jewels so as to brighten your whole appearance. Whether you’re sporting posh jewelry from 77diamonds.com or flashy ones purchased from your favorite tiangge, there’s no question that accessories will enhance your look.

2. Pastel dresses – Nothing screams “feminine” more than summer dresses. Think yellow, beige, hot pink, lime green, even whites. Floral prints are in, bold patterns out. Save them for the rainy days.

3. Reliable flip-flops – Now this is important. We should invest on slippers; think quality over quantity. If you have ten inexpensive slippers which will eventually snap, better buy a pair of Havaianas instead. You can be sure that your slippers can last longer, and will carry you through treks and seashores expertly.

4. Sunscreen – Make sure the SPF is appropriate for your skin. Cosmo gave us a list of the best sunscreens to buy, and it includes: Aveeno Hydrosport Sunblock Spray (SPF85), Code Sc I Always Wear Protection (SPF30), Own Products Active Block (SPF30), Banana Boat Ultra Defense Lotion (SPF100), Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense (SPF50), Coppertone Foaming Oil-Free (SPF75), Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Sun Defense Stick (SPF50), Hawaiian Tropic Shimmer Effect (SPF40), Kiss My Face Face Factor (SPF50), MAC Prep + Prime BB Beauty Balm (SPF35), Neova DNA Damage Control Everyday (SPF43), Neutrogena Wet Skin (SPF85), and Nivea a Kiss of Protection (SPF 30). Take your pick, then show off your tan.
